Motherwell 3-1 Kilmarnock - Premiership
Motherwell's bid to avoid the end of season relegation-promotion play-off is still on following a win against Kilmarnock of Friday, which was a win that officially confirmed the relegation of St Mirren.
The three-one win at Fir Park, albeit with a game in hand, moved us to within three-points of Ross County to leave us with hope of finishing higher than 11th.
Kilmarnock caused the more threat early on with Cairney and Magennis both denied thanks to save from Long.
But we grew into the game and started to threaten ourselves and opened the scoring after good work from Erwin saw him denied by Samson's save but McDonald (28) was on hand to convert the loose ball and give us the lead just before the half hour mark.
Magennis had an effort deflected away and Ashcroft should have done better with a header from six-yard before we doubled our lead before half time when Erwin (39) got onto Hammell's ball, beating a defender and this time beating Kilmarnock 'keeper Samson.
We could have added more goals through Johnson and McDonald with the changes that Kilmarnock made at the break having some impact with Magennis (53) forcing the ball over the line early in the second half following a scramble in the goalmouth.
Further chances came our way, either side of the third and decisive strike from Ainsworth (90) in the last minute but we had done more than enough to keep out survival bid on....
