Rangers 1-3 Motherwell - Report
Motherwell are well placed to ensure that we remain in the Scottish Premiership next season following the win at Rangers on Friday, with the win at Ibrox leaving us well set to see of the threat of relegation.
Having raced into a three-goal lead we'll find out on Sunday if the late goal Rangers managed to pull back in our three-one win, our first win at Ibrox since 1997, proves to be?
George Long, playing in what could be his last but one appearance for the club, turned away a dangerous Wallace cross with Miller then curling wide with the first real effort that Rangers had.
As the half hour mark approached a moment of creativity from Erwin saw him work an opening for himself, always keen to have a shot he tried his luck with it Erwin (27) seeing his effort deflect off McGregor and past Rangers 'keeper Bell to make it one-nil.
Rangers were rocked by this goal and our confidence grew with the main ploy being to catch Rangers on the counter attack through Ainsworth and Johnson. As half time approached Johnson delivered a ball into the ball with McManus (40) heading in a second to leave Motherwell in control at half time.
Within minutes of the second half getting underway Rangers were caught again with another break with Pearson winning the ball from Murdoch with Bell beaten again by Ainsworth (47) to make it three-nil.
A fourth could have come with Rangers having a chance or more to get back into the game before McGregor (82) gave them hope when he headed in a late consolation.
